About
The photo fixes people used to ask strangers for
Retouchly is an online AI photo editor built around the edits people actually request: remove a photobomber, open closed eyes, add a loved one to the family photo, bring a damaged print back to life. One tool per fix, a result in under a minute, and everyone still looks like themselves.
Why it exists
Every day, thousands of people post a photo on a forum and ask a stranger to fix it: a tube in a baby’s nose, an ex in a holiday picture, grandpa missing from the last family photo. General-purpose AI chatbots can try, but they tend to redraw the whole image, and faces come back subtly wrong. Desktop editors can do it well, but take hours to learn.
We read a few hundred of those requests, grouped them, and built one tool for each: a tuned preset instead of a prompt you have to get right. The catalog is ordered by how often each fix is asked for, so the most common ones come first.
How it keeps faces the same
Faces drifting is the number-one complaint about AI photo edits, so the editor protects the parts you didn’t ask to change. When you paint over an area, the model sees your photo with that area highlighted, and the server then copies the original pixels back everywhere outside your strokes. Only the painted region can change. Photos that are extended (uncropped) get the same treatment: the original stays untouched and only the new canvas is filled in.
Every result is generated once at full quality and kept for 24 hours. The preview you see is a watermarked copy of that exact file, so what you unlock is what you saw, not a second attempt.
The models behind it
Retouchly doesn’t train its own models. It routes each job to the model that is best at it right now, and swaps them as better ones appear:
General edits · OpenAI GPT Image
Top of the image-editing leaderboards, and it accepts reference photos, which adding a person or borrowing open eyes from another shot needs.
Background removal · BiRefNet
Cleaner edges around hair and fur than a general editor.
Unblur and upscale · SeedVR2
Faithful to the source, so faces don't drift while detail is added.
Your photo is sent to the model provider only to make the edit you asked for and is not used to train anything.
What it costs
Trying it is free: 3 watermarked previews a day without an account, 10 with a free email sign-in. A full-quality download without the watermark costs 1 credit. Credits come in packs of 5 for €4.99 and 15 for €9.99, and they never expire. There is no subscription. See the pricing and refund policy.
What it won't do
No nude or sexual edits, no fake documents, IDs or receipts, nothing meant to deceive or harass anyone, and no removing other people’s watermarks. The full list is in the acceptable use policy.
Who makes it
